Well, this is what's on my work desk today. I actually finished it late last night, but wanted to share it with you. I used another of my Crafters Workshop stencils and if you notice on the right side I cleaned off the stencil and got the resist. That's another page waiting to happen. I read somewhere that you could use drywall paste instead of the expensive Modeling Paste to get texture and IT WORKS! the little blue dots are the results. I love it. Again, I watched a video by Donna Downey and got the sketch to do this page, just added a few of my own little touches to make it my own. I am learning so many awesome things from her and all the talented artist out there that share on WOYWW. Thanks to all of you!!
Well, go and check out all the other desks out there at http://www.stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and you'll see and learn lots from all of them. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
I love Donna too, she is so inspirational! Loving your page on the left, it is stunning, gorgeous colours and so vibrant. Thanks for your visit. Anne #2

ReplyDeleteHi Peggy thanks for popping in to see me. I love your art journalling page. It looks like you have two different tribes of dots living on you page. Top right are organised and mean business and the bottom left are just wandering where life takes them! I bet you never knew!!! :-) Happy WOYWW to you Helen 50
ReplyDeleteWow, that's great, Peggy! I have just discovered the trick of using a stencil as a mask, by rubbing away through the stencil - awesome! I use Polyfilla One Fill (known as joint compound in the US, I think) for mixed media work - it's hugely cheaper than moulding paste or gesso and works just as well! It's very fine textured, and lightweight, and dries without shrinking.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW,

ReplyDeleteLove this page, great colours! and I like how you are using the other side of the stencil for the next page! x April #84
ReplyDeletePeggy, you're welcome re the tip about joint compound. Cheap and cheerful and it does the job awesomely! I love that stuff. You can spread it out and press things into it to make textures, and embed things in it (I bought some poultry grit at our local farmer's store recently and plan to use this for gorgeous texture) and then when it's dry, apply layers of different coloured acrylics, sealing them between layers with acrylic polymer and rubbing them back to expose the colours underneath... (Details on my blog - somewhere lol! Look for "mixed media mirrors.") All gorgeous, messy, hands-on FUN!! Mixed media is the best playtime I've had for ages.
