I wanted to share a mixed media canvas I did. I love doing this kind of art and have learned so much from watching videos by Donna Downey and Chris Tomlinson. I was putting the finishing touches on this one and decided to add one of Becky Fleck's pieces I cut using her new Spellbinder Office die cut set. It's in the upper left corner. Well, I'm taking you to my other studio. This is my mixed media work area. It's a bit crowed but perfect for doing mixed media collage work. Everything is all around me and in the drawers. The only problem is I need more lighting. I plan to ask Steve for new lighting for my birthday. I tried making a video of me doing a canvas it was 17 minutes long, honey please.... Youtube wouldn't let me upload it, so I need to edit it and make it into a Part one and two. I'm learning... NO! that is not a bottle of wine on my desk LOL that is what I haul water up to the studio .. really! I have a co-worker who save winebottles for me so I can upcycle them and this one made it to my desk as a water bottle. What a hoot! I didn't even realize it was in the picture until it posted. I did this canvas for May Arts and Stampendous. I used the Jumbo Tulip stamp as the focal point. Oh wait this pic doesn't show the ribbon... I used it to hang the canvas but also used it as a stencil type thing on the canvas. There will be a video out soon I'll be sure to post it when it goes live. I had to share these awesome hearts from my BFF, Ginny Lee. I did a card class at her house last night and she designed this card and put together kits for all the ladies. The heart and paperclip are to be used as a bookmark! How stinkin' cute is that? Then the heart in the frame, oh my goodness! The hearts are all hand sewn. She made enough for her son's class and a special heart for her older son's girlfriend. Take a closer look at the little bead she sewed in the center. Talk about a talented woman! THANKS! Ginny Lee.

Great Treat Idea for Kids

I saw this on Pinterest and was so thrilled! It is a perfect treat for our three-four and five year old Children's church group. I plan to have them decorate the clothes pins one week and the next we'll do the treat bag. There just isn't enough time in one session to help 27 little ones decorate their clothes pins. Here's another Courture Creations folder. I used Coordination paper on the bottom, sanded it and smooth coordination paper on the upper half. The ribbon is from May Arts Ribbon and the little dot in the center is one of the new little Candies. I love those little things. Can you believe these? My BFF Ginny Lee found these at the Thrift Shop for me. Listen to this deal. They were marked $5 each but it was half off day! Yeap! she got them both for $5. That's my girl! They are all wood except of course the handles. I have no idea what year they were made and don't really need to know. All I know is they are great in the studio for storage and my "up-cycle" look.

It's very cold and icy here in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have a class later this morning sure hope the roads aren't too bad so we can make it and safely. I just completed two new videos this morning, one for May Arts and the other for Cropstop. I'll post them once they go live. Have a great day!

Well, I'm still working on cleaning up, de-stashing and organizing the studios. The drawer on the left is the drawer that use to be under our front-loader washer that died. I recycled the washer through our neighbor we call "Mr. Sanford & Son" but I kept the drawer and made it into my embossing folder drawer. Unfortunately and fortunately the dryer died yesterday so I'll have another drawer to work with. (had to use my stash $ to buy a new dryer.. bummer) On my desk is card stock cut to use as dividers for the folders. I have them in alphabetical order OF COURSE! LOL I decided to use some of the many letter stickers, chip boards letters or whatever I have on had to label them. Big job but I'm sure it will be worth it. I created this card for my January Design Team submission. I used a Papertrey Ink die at the bottom and the folder is from Crafts Concepts. Oh yeah! I used a Spellbinders die to get the scalloped edge around the verse.

I just love doing mixed media prints. I used water color paper and lots of different mediums to create the canvas. Then I cut it down to make the card front. Used a Tim Holtz stamp and called it a card. Oh did you notice that I left the edge of the watercolor paper as part of my card front? Why not? Hope you had a great day. I had the class at SYAO and it was lots of fun. The ladies cranked out their cards in record time. Thanks everyone!

I'm so excited about going through my stash, not only in the studio but throughout the house. I'm always looking for ways to use something before I get rid of it. I saw this on Pinterest posted by www.halfofvamh.blogspot.com and just can't wait to pull my extra paper towel holder out of the "out-the-door" box and up cycle for my bracelets. I have them on those cute dress form jewelry holders but they are always falling over. This should be much sturdier.

I promise next week I'll be sharing all the new projects I've been working on. I just received all the new embossing folders from CartUs. Oh yeah! I'm very excited Hallie Jo from www.cropstop.com emailed and asked me if she could use "all" my recent cards using the Couture Creations, Craft Creations and CartUs folders for her display at the 2012 CHA in California. NO... she didn't ask me to personally delivered them LOL!!! however, I am honored to have my work showcased in her booth. Is this too stinkin' cute or what? What a great way to recycle old patterns. I don't know if I would use real buttons (I hoard buttons), I have a stamp and die from Papertrey Ink I could use for the button tag. I'm going to put extra clippy clothes pins on my dollar store list. If you haven't checked out Pinterest it's a MUST! That's where I saw this and just had to share.

I've been busy designing for my upcoming classes. This weekend is the "Sympathy" Series class; all packed and ready to go. Next month is the "Manly" Series class. I'm really excited about these classes, they are my favorite "clean and simple" style cards with 'class'. This stamped image was in the "stash box". I pulled it out, inked it up, tore the edges, attached to a card front and there you go "A Card!" I'm in the process of making my cards for this years Craft Show. I think I'll just add this one to the group.

Artist Resolutions

I read this list written by Alyson B Stanfield and decided it was something I needed to take a serious look at. Although, Steve and I had decided NOT to make New Year's Resolutions and just live the life God has already planned for us, this really struck a nerve with me and I decided to print it out and frame it for the "wall of Art" in my studio. Of course, my goal is to take it to heart and put in place what this list suggests. I figured it's okay to start on the 5th since I missed the 1st LOL I think it's pretty stinkin' cool.

Faux filmstrip

Well, it's started.. "stash cards" I found this piece of filmstrip I must have cut years ago and decided to put it together. To get the "negative" look you simply use Stazon Ink on silver paper. I made one of these probably 2 yrs ago and really like the look, just don't use it often. I don't know about you but I have tons of scraps of paper. I just can't seem to bring myself to throw them away. I separate them by colors and then patterns and I've decided it's time to free up three tall draw holders I got at Michaels a long time back and 10 plastic boxes of scraps. HOW?!? Well, I'm going to try to do "color scheme" cards, pull out the appropriate box and go for it. I just hope this doesn't put a damper on creativity LOL If you have any ideas let me know. I could just load it all up and give it to the school... hey wonder if they would take it or think it "junk".
I have a few openings in the January classes at Stamp Your Art Out and Hobby Lobby, make sure to call and get registered. I want to make sure to have a card kit for you.

I saw on the blog Just For Fun, a really great New Year's Resolution.. "I Pledge to Use it Up in 2012!" I love that. Even though I didn't say it out loud, that has been my goal this year to use what I have. I know CHA is in a few weeks and new stuff will be coming out....but I'm going to hold firm to my pledge and use what I have. I'm blessed because I do get new stuff from Cropstop and May Arts to use for the Design Team, so it won't be as hard for me as it would be for some... but I have LOTS of stuff to use up. So, you might be hearing a lot this year..." this is from my stash closet" I'm really looking forward to seeing what all is really in there. LOL I do plan to spread the "wealth" as they say with my daughter in law who loves to scrapbook.

Hand made paper card

This is a blast from the past. I had put together a class called "Re-use" way back in 2009, no one was interested so I cancelled and never tried it again... I made the background mat using a technique called "faux-handmade paper" the texture is awesome. I decided to share the card, so at least people could see how cool it is even if they didn't want to use it. Hope you have a great day!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share this. I found this is a file with a note that I had sent this in for a magazine contest. I guess I didn't win, I never heard anything. LOL Funny, I have no idea how long ago I did it. It is a cute card, as I remember it was a pain making the Tigger on the Cricut. Must be why I haven't made anymore of these. The verse is from Verses Rubber Stamp co. I did a new video for Cropstop tonight I'll post it as soon as it uploads. I can hardly wait to share the cards I did using the new Couture Creations... they are too cool.

Well, my "studio 2" is looking a bit cramped. This is the studio I do all my altered art projects, videos and assemble all my kits for classes in. The picture on the left are stacks I'm getting ready for Stamp Away 2012. I hope to be teaching a class this year, so I had to get the class projects designed and submitted by January 4th. This is a really cool digi image I got from Etsy. The folder is another of the World Fair collection and this fit the background perfect. The folder is suppose to be a port-hole of a ship or maybe a submarine, so I needed a deep sea diver and shells. Anyway I loved this image. I colored it a bit with Copic markers, and found the sentiment on line just surfing for an ocean saying.. "surfing" I think I made a funny LOL Have a great day!

This is one of the World Fair folders. This one is the only one that is NOT "manly". This is truly a great set for the man cards. I used Core'dination paper, feathers and bling. It was fun to play with those feathers for a change. Have a great day!

I'm always searching for ways to create "man" cards and this group of folders fit the bill. There is one as you'll see for the "women" that is very vintage. I did this for May Arts Ribbon and Graphic 45. There will be a video up a couple of days showing the steps. I gave this to my mom for her birthday. She was pretty tickled with it. Hope you are getting your shopping finished. I have one more thing coming in the mail and then it's "wrap-time". This year we are wrapping everything in brown kraft paper and putting a picture of the person on it as the tag. I saw this on Pinterest and LOVED it. Contour Creations Scrapbook

Can you believe it? No butterflies and not a card! LOL I just finished a video for Contour Creations and their World Fair Embossing folder set. I LOVE THEM! and wanted to show how to emboss a 2 x12 piece. They all have an opening in the top to slide your cardstock through. When the video goes live, I'll post it here. More Embossing

Well, I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the new cards I did this weekend using the World Fair Embossing folders, so this all I had to share today. This is the card front from a www.cropstop.com video I always say I hate to waste! I'm not completely finished with this yet I have to add some ribbon and the verse then I'll take another pic.
Later this week I'll show you all the cards I've made using the WF folders. I'm making a video for the retailers out there that will be carrying them. (some are international WOW!) But you'll get to see all the cards here. If you have ever had a difficult time coming up with masculine cards, most of these folders lend themselves to being perfect for that. I'm planning to use them in Feb for the "man card class" Okay, off to work Have a great day!

I went to the Milford Craft Show this past weekend and one of the crafters had this in her booth. I loved it! I make diaper cakes for gifts but this really out did that idea. OH MY GOODNESS! I am loving these new folders from www.cropstop.com They are all 5x7 folders, World Fair group, limited edition. The car was made with the Tim Holtz car die (large) I inked up the embossed area with Walnut stain Distress Ink. I'll be using these in my February class "Masculine cards" Remember these are limited edition folders so once gone...gone So, if you check them out and like them go ahead and order. New Sizzix Die

Well, I just had to show you one of the Sizzix dies I got at the Black Friday sale at Joanne's. They were 75% off can you believe it. I didn't think I could find a way to use the pear but then I remembered one of those $1 stamps from Michaels I had gotten and well.... here it the result. I think I like it. The embossed background was from another Sizzix embossing set that had 2- A2 folders and a little die cut and it was like $3 can't beat that! Wish I had saved more pennies so I could have gotten several. Well, there's always next time. And now I'm saving my $ for the new Singer Felting Machine....

FYI.... I'll be teaching a "Man Card" class in February at SYAO and I'm going to use the new World Fair Embossing folders by Couture Creations and I think SAYO is the only local store that carries them. You can also order them at www.cropstop.com and make sure to put "Peggy" in the coupon box for a little extra off. So, if you always have trouble coming up with ideas for man cards this is a great class and these folders are PERFECT!!! Oh yeah! and they're limited editions, so don't wait!
